Menu Plan

A question was posed in one of my recent posts, so I thought I would go into a little bit more detail than is really possible in comments.

Here is what my family would eat during a typical two weeks. I don't plan lunches because we will eat the leftover from the night before.

This is in no particular order:

Monday - chili
Tuesday - lasagna
Wednesday - kraft mac n' cheese w/hotdogs
Thursday - chicken and biscuits
Friday - chicken/baked potato/green beans
Saturday - chicken noodle soup
Sunday - bbq chicken pizza
Monday - chicken breasts/mashed potatoes/broccoli and carrots (steamed)
Tuesday - chicken salad
Wednesday - kraft mac n' cheese w/hotdogs
Thursday - chicken salad
Friday - chicken/baked potato/corn
Saturday - beef stew
Sunday - chicken breasts/mashed potatoes/broccoli and carrots (steamed)

Weekly Meal Planning - 8/31

Monday - Chicken Casserole w/ green beans
Tuesday - Chicken Alfredo/Noodles w/corn
Wednesday - Chicken and Biscuits
Thursday - Chicken Breasts w/ baked potato and green beans
Friday - BBQ Chicken Pizza

Yes, I do know that we are having chicken EVERY DAY this week. But, that is really our favorite meat....we do not prepare much of anything else. Thank goodness my whole family could live on chicken!

Also, in this case, I will only have to heat up my oven up twice....because I will prepare the chicken breasts in bulk.

What are you doing for your meals? Care to link me back to your meal plan?

Meal Planning - Stage One

It was suggested to me by Rachel, that I should read the post from The Happy Housewife regarding Meal Planning. So, that is exactly what I did...and I think that it is great that she is taking you step by step through the process.

The first step is to write out a list of 15 meals. For me, it was more difficult than should have been....I don't really give much thought as to what I am planning for dinner. I usually just throw something together that day, and hope that it tastes alright. Haha.

Anyway, here is my list of 15 (eh, 16) meals.

#1) -Chicken Breasts (Baked) -Baked Potatoes -Green Beans
#2) -Chicken and Biscuits
#3) -BBQ Chicken Pizza
#4) -Chili
#5) -Lasagna -Garlic Bread -Green Beans
#6) -Savory Chicken Casserole -Green Beans
#7) -Sloppy Joes -French Fries -*Fruit*
#8) -Spaghetti -Garlic Bread -Green Beans
#9) -Tator Tot Casserole
#10) -Chicken Noodle Soup
#11) -2x4 Soup
#12) -Lasagna Toss -Garlic Bread -Green Beans
#13) -Chicken Alfredo/Chicken Noodles
#14) -Ham and Potato Soup
#15) -Grilled Cheese -Tomato Soup
#16) -Ham -Scalloped Potatoes -Corn

What is your meal planning strategy? Do you have 15 set meals that you use?

Meal Planning

Do you meal plan?

I have a general idea of what I will make for lunch/dinner for the two weeks in between my grocery shopping trips, but I don’t strictly follow it. Basically, whatever sounds good that morning is what I set out for dinner that night.

Anyway, my main question is how do you organize your meal plan?

A couple of weeks ago, while at Target (I ALWAYS check their dollar section, do you?), I came across a “teacher’s weekly lesson planner”. I realized that this will be a great tool in my meal planning, and I am just getting ready to use it for the first time.

I will definitely let you know how it goes….but, I would love to hear how you keep yourself organized. People always have great tips, things that I would never even think of. I pretty much always think that everyone else is more creative than I am.

This is an area of my life that I would like to work on….becoming more organized with my meal planning (and strictly following my menu). We will see how this goes. ;o)
