Nap & Paint Struggles

Man, it was such a struggle to get Jackson down for a nap today.  I couldn't believe it.  I tried for 4 hours, then he finally fell asleep.  Well, I guess it wasn't exactly 4 hours....but I have been trying since noon and he only just fell asleep.

I tried his normal routine, didn't work.  I tried lying in bed with him, didn't work.  Tried popping in a movie, didn't work.  I tried a pack n' play, didn't work.  I tried rocking him, didn't work.  So, back in the pack n' play he went because I needed to get some stuff done before sissy woke up....and guess what?  He fell asleep.  Little booger.

At what age did your child(ren) stop taking a regular nap?  My mom said that my little brother stopped at around 16 months.  But, I think that is just too darn early!

Painting our apartment last weekend was hard work.  It took FOREVER!  Well, I guess not forever, we did finish it up in 2 days....but, it was a long 2 days.  We started painting the kitchen and bathroom while the babies were sleeping (nap and bed time) then, my Mom took them for the day on Sunday so we could do the living room and their bedroom.

It looks great, and I might post pictures.....you know, whenever I get around to it.

Do you know what I just realized?  I miss Shania Twain songs.  Like seriously.  I am gonna have to dig out her cd, blow off the dust (because, really, who uses cd's anymore), and pop it into the dvd player.  I have no idea what made me just think of that....but, now I have "Man, I feel like a woman" stuck in my head.  Thanks Shania!

Can you believe Lindsay Lohan violated her probation?  Well, I guess I can believe it...but, I never expected it to be so soon after being released from rehab/jail.  What is she thinking?!?!

Well, I guess that is about all I have.  Not much planned for the weekend, other than a family reunion (which I am not really looking forward to).  Hopefully I can get some good snuggles in with my babies over the next few days, they are growing up too quickly.

I hope that you have a fabulous weekend!

  1. My oldest stopped taking naps around 2ish I think, and my 20 month old still has to have his naps. He gets downright nasty if you don't put him in his bed. He'll try to climb into if he can. My 2 year old though, it's a huge battle, and never ends well. I loathe naptime at our house.

I miss Shania too, I haven't heard her music in a very long time.Have a good weekend!

  3. All 3 of my kids were 2.5 yrs when naps became a battle and I gave in to the crabby kid syndrome until they adjusted ;) If the naptime thing is consistantly hard, try waking him up a little earlier so he'll be tired at naptime. Once naps are really a no-go, be sure to move bedtime up to make up for the lesser sleep :)
