How Should I Spend My Spring Break?
Well, I wish I was able to get a spring break :). But, being a SAHM doesn't come with a lot of vacation time....which is fine by me because my fat butt doesn't want to be in a swim suit anyway. Lol.
But, if I did have a spring break....I would spend part of it tasting wine. :)
A couple months ago a man named Stephen contacted me, asking if I would be interested in sampling some wine. Umm, yes please! Because, as you might know, I have been on a quest to find the perfect bottle of wine.
And last week, I received the package I have been waiting for, quite anxiously, from Concannon!!!
I have to say, I was quite impressed with the overall packaging of the bottles.....several layers of bubble wrap (which Jackers had hours, okay minutes, of fun with!), and a very cool box that was made specifically for wine.
Okay, yes. I am a nerd because I think that is cool....but hey, what can I say. There isn't much excitement going on around here.
Back to my original topic....geez, I am getting off subject.
I received two bottles of wine through Fed Ex....chardonnay and petite sirah, both from this fabulous vineyard. I had never heard of petite sirah, so I was especially looking forward to tasting this bottle.
So, Sunday night Z, Mom, Dad, and I opened up the bottles. And I have to say, it was probably the highlight of my weekend.
We opened the chardonnay first, and it was pretty good. I had never before tasted chardonnay, and I have to say that I was surprised.
My great aunt and uncle drink chardonnay on a regular basis, so I always just associated this bottle with them (they are old, haha, so I figured it was a "old" person type wine. Why do we develop such associations?). And I don't know why, but I anticipated not liking it. I was wrong.
It was quite good, however I did like the Moscato D' Asti a little bit better. I really do think I prefer the bubblyness (is that a word?) of the Moscato.
A couple minutes after tasting the chardonnay, we popped the cork off of the second bottle. And I have to say, I think this bottle solidified something for me. Red wines are my favorite.
I loved the taste of this bottle. It was the best I have tried yet.
I am not sure if this will be my ALL TIME favorite, because there are still so many bottles to try :).
This search is a lot of fun and, as always, if you have any suggestions for me....just let me know!
