Very hot apartment!
Jackson had yet another jaundice test this morning at the DeWitt hospital...but, we have some good news! The level moved from a 15 to a 12 in the last couple of days, so hopefully that means that it is finally out of his system. Dr. Laureijs said that unless he seems more yellow we do not have to have another check up; he will make sure everything is alright at our next appointment on the 9th. I have been trying to make sure that he gets a little sun light during the day, but he is not particular fond of hanging out in his diaper unless the apartment is cranked to about 80 degrees. WAY TO HOT FOR MOM!

Two Week Well-Baby Check Up
Jackson got to meet his doctor this afternoon. He weighs 7 lbs and is 20 inches long. Everything looked good as far as his two week well-baby check up, but Dr. Laureijs wanted to double check his bilirubin levels. So, we went back over to the DeWitt hospital (we called Grandma to help us because Zach had to work this afternoon) for a check, and Jackson's level was 15.4. This is higher than his last check, but still within a decent range. We have the biliblanket for another day, so Jack will spend one final night in that annoying light. He has another bilirubin check on Friday. I had to get a check x-ray to make sure I do not have a collapsed lung. I mentioned to Dr. Laureijs that I can not lay on my left side without pain in my chest. He could not hear anything when he listened to my lungs, so he decided to order the x-ray. He said that because Jack was pushing on my lungs (and MANY other organs) for nine months it could have easily created this problem. I should find out tomorrow what exactly is going on, so we shall see. Jack got to meet his Great-Aunt Chanda this evening, she is home from Denver for Thanksgiving and her birthday.

Painful Trip Home
We were allowed to go home at 10:30 am! Yea! His levels went down just below a 12. So, we had Daddy and Grandpa pick us up from the hospital. After leaving we went to Muscatine to pick up a conference table for Thanksgiving (this was a VERY bumpy ride for Mommy). We then went to lunch at Culver's, Wal-Mart, and to work with Daddy. It was a very long day in the car! After dropping off the table at Grandma and Grandpa's we went to Paul and Betti's. Unfortunately for Paul, Jackson decided to spit up on him. Ooops! Then we went home...thank goodness. It was a really long day, especially on only a couple hours of sleep.

Going back to the hospital...
Daddy, Jack, and I headed to DeWitt hospital around 9:30 am for lab work. Then around 1 pm we received a call from Dr. Walton (who, oddly enough was Zach's pediatrician back in the day) saying that we need to head to Genesis East for further treatment so the levels did not get out of control. We were admitted to the hospital for jaundice. They checked Jack out, and he now weighs 7 lbs 1 oz. His bilirubin level this morning was a 19. Dr. Walton said that when the bilirubin level hits a 20 doctors start to panic, so we were admitted to the hospital. We were admitted at 3:30 and by 10:00 his level was down to a 14. They said that we would more than likely get to go home in the morning. Yea! I can not wait for Jackson to get better! Above are some pictures of our little man under the double-banked lights.

Darn Jaundice!
Jackson's bilirubin levels went up and we had to go into Genesis East for a second check of the day. The lab was closed, which is weird because they told us to go to the hospital at 6 o'clock for a check. They reopened the lab, but could not find the order for the bilirubin test. They called the doctor, got him to reorder the test and we had to wait around until they had the results. The level went from an 18 to a 17. Yea! So, we did a little bit of shopping at Target and headed home for the night. But, we have to have another test in the morning.

First Outing
This morning we had to go to the DeWitt hospital to check Jack's bilirubin level. After my baby was poked for the millionth time, we ran some errands.....Theisens, the bank, the post office, and Grandma's work. When all the ladies where done staring at our cute little man, we had Grandma take us to Happy Joe's. What an eventful day!
