I just wanted to take a little time and answer some of the comments left over the last 24 hours. I love to have conversations with people, it keeps the creative juices flowing. Haha.
"I forgot to put my favorite frugal date night idea
we send the kids to grandmas get a redbox movie and a $5.99 pizza!
Thanks" - Kerrie

Thank you so much for your great suggestion! I don't know why, but I have such a difficult time asking people to watch my baby. I just feel that he is my (our) responsibility, and I don't want to take advantage of peoples generosity (especially my parents). I am also thinking about the future, I know that I will need more help when my second little one arrives, and I don't want my "free" baby-sitters to get burned out before I REALLY need them. Haha.
Anyway, great idea getting a Redbox (there are always free codes, which makes it even better!) movie and pizza. Maybe, a good compromise for my fear of leaving my little one is: eating dinner and enjoying the movie after he is in bed.
Thanks so much Kerrie!
Thanks Leslie! My husband would be all over this idea. What guy doesn't like playing Wii? Haha, but I am afraid that he would use it as an excuse to get more games. Lol.
Thanks so much for the blog mention, it's my first one! Yeah, haha. I am a dork ;o).

"Favorite frugal date night would be a walk in the park followed by a movie on the lawn (in the summer). In the winter, you can never go wrong with a Wii night! hehe.
Thanks for doing the giveaway!" - Leslie

:)
Thanks!" - Leslie

Thanks!" - Leslie
Thank you! We think that he is cute, but we are partial. Haha. Compliments on your children are the best!!!
First of all, six children! I love children, and would love to have a big family....I just don't think I am organized enough to run an effective household. So, I am very impressed by you!
Starbucks is a great idea, I don't drink coffee, but my husband would love it. And I would imagine that it does provide a great atmosphere to reconnect with your husband and actually talk and have a conversation. Thanks so much for the great tip!
I wish that we had a $1 theater....the closest thing we have is Redbox, and it just isn't quite the same.
Again, I am very impressed that you can keep your budget to under $100. How often do you shop?
We do use Target brand diapers! I love them, although I still buy Pampers for night-time and long trips. I am just not as confident with Target Brand....but, they definitely save me a TON of money during the day.
Do you post your shopping trips? Or meal planning? I would be interested in reading how you feed a large family on $100.
Thanks again!
I just discovered restaurant.com, and I am so glad I did. I have never been to any of the restaurants in my area that offer the discounted gift cars, but what a great opportunity to try new places. Do you ever feel like you get stuck in a rut with your favorite restaurants, etc?
Thanks so much for the comment! Good luck!!!!
Unless you count dinner out with our 10 month old a date, my hubby and I haven't been out in FOREVER! Haha, I know that we need to get out a couple of times before Baby Madelyn comes along (November).
Hope the comments help you and your husband! Let me know what y'all decide to do for your date night. ;o)
Thanks to everyone who commented! I really appreciate it, and I will continue to add more replies throughout the day/week....so much sure to check back. ;o)
"Would love to win. For a frugal date night, we leave the kids (all six) with my parents and head out to Starbucks. OK, so their coffee isn't cheap, but it's cheaper than going to a restaurant and you can really talk. Or, again, we leave the kids with my parents and take in a movie at the dollar theater." -Andrea

"I relate to "First shopping trip with $100 budget." I can usually keep it under $100 for our family of 8, but it's hard, and I don't think I could do it if we still had to buy diapers or baby food! I don't know where you get diapers---we used to buy Target brand; they're relatively inexpensive and pretty good quality." - Andrea

"Dinner and a movie would be great! Restaurant.com has cheap gift cards and EBay has great deals on movie tickets.
Thanks for the chance to win. I'm just starting out couponing and boy could I use these coupons." - Sheri

"HI Jenn! I'm new to reading your blog and just wanted to ask if you've heard of or use afullcup.com. They have a coupon database where you can type in an item (Gerber baby food) and it will tell you what coupons for baby food are out there and where to get them. I find this only helps if you set it to show only printables. They also have a Target coupon generator that will print TARGET coupons which can be stacked with manu qs. (Say for diapers) With coupons that are out there, you can probably shave off that extra $18.74 and come in RIGHT on budget!!! GOOD LUCK and I hope I didn't tell you stuff you already knew!" - Lindsey
I have never heard of afullcup.com, but I am definitely going to check it out. I love coupons, and it is usually the highlight of my day to find a new web-site that offers coupons. Ah, the simple things in life. Lol.
I love Target coupons. Do you print them off in the store? It saves me so much ink, and I just print off a couple of pages each time I go to the store.
I did use a lot of coupons, which is part of my problem with going over budget. I have to change my mentality....I really do not need to have 20 bottles of shampoo, even if it is a great deal. Haha.
Thanks so much for your comment!

Hey Jenn! I'm so excited I found your blog! You're not much older than me *21* and I have a son also! I'm pretty pumped that I found a young blogger that I can learn the ropes of couponing and mommying with! Jackson is such a cutie!Okay... now for your questions.
ReplyDeleteThe Target coupons don't print in the store but you can set your printer to just black and white and their coupons fit 4 to a sheet I believe and are fairly small. It is very worth it, especially if something is free. Great example now is they have a coupon for $1/2 market pantry cheese. You can get 2 sticks of string cheese for $.40 each. Free is a great price to get a TON of cheese for. Especially now that Jackson has teeth!
This is just a suggestion, but why don't you post your shopping list a few days in advance and see if your readers can help you find coupons to match it? That could be the criteria for your next give-away! =D
Lindsey,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the comment back. When I asked if you printed the coupons at Target, I meant at the kiosk. If you go to the computers that they have available for gift registries, you can visit their web-site and print out the coupons there. Using their ink, and paper. It is a fantastic way to save money while in the store. Just a quick tip!
I am so glad that you are around my age! It is usually hard to find people with the same ideals and goals when you are "young".
You had a great suggestion posting my shopping list, but that would mean that I actually have to have to done ahead of time. Lol. About an hour before I go shopping I will look through the ads, my coupons, etc...but, I will have to try getting it done a few days in advance. Thanks for the suggestion! Now, lets just see if I can get this accomplished. ;o)
Thanks again for the great comment, I love getting them! Lol. Hope you are having a great day.
Jenn
