Cutting Grocery Bill

As of right now, my family and I are spending approximately $430 a month on groceries. When I say groceries that includes ALL household items, including diapers. This is also the category were clothing purchases (new shoes, socks, etc) would be made from.

While, I don't think this is an extravagant amount for these items....we need to cut back. I am pretty sure that we can do it, however I know that it will be a challenge.

If you follow our blog, you know that our budget exceeds our monthly income. While we are not using credit cards to pay for the difference, we are not paying the amount due on certain bills. Meaning we are occasionally not even making the full minimum payment. Awful, I know.

Thus, the reason for the drastic change in our spending habits. I am moving our budget to $100 every two weeks for groceries. If you were to calculate it out over an entire year, we would be spending approximately $217 a month on groceries. Like I said, we are looking for something drastic.

I really hope that this works out, and I am able to provide healthy meals for my growing family.....without breaking the bank. I will be sure to let you know how it goes....my first grocery shopping trip (with the new budget) will be next Friday. Hopefully, I can get my envelope totals adjusted easily....and I will fill you in on those shortly.

Over the next few days I will be looking for additional ways to save even more money! Do you have any suggestions? I would love to hear your input, and your stories on financial struggles (everyone has them...however, most people don't advertise them. Haha).
